Xerofarago Gorge

Xerofarago Gorge is located south of Kalami village (Viannos area), 75km southeast of Heraklion. It is a small but beautiful gorge, ideal for canyoning (known to the canyoners as Kalami II) that terminates close to the old church of Panagia Keralimeniotissa, where another gorge, Kalami Gorge ends.

In order to locate the entrance (270m altitude) you have to climb for about 500m on the western slopes of the gorge exit (140m altitude) and follow the path marked with stones. The gorge Xerofarango has 11 consecutive descents, the largest being 16m high, and is usually dry. The narrow walls (3-7m width) and the sculptured natural rocks in the canyon make it a favorite canyon for lovers of easy canyoning.
