Lapathos Plateau
Near Kato Symi village, 36km west of Ierapetra and 77km southeast of Heraklion, is located the Plateau of Lapathos. It is a small but beautiful plateau, which is worth mentioning in our website.
The background of the plateau is the wild beauty of the Lasithi Mountains and the slopes of Selakano. The vegetation in the Plateau is not dense and there are many rocky places.
Lapathos is used by the shepherds of the area as a pasture. There are several stone benches and tables, while there is the beautiful church of the Holy Apostles. Plateau of Lapathos can be accessed via a dirt road, coming from the wood of Selakano.
From Lapathos starts one of the most rugged canyons of Lassithi, the gorge of “Agion Apostolon”.
